This
season's clutch was produced by Meadow
& Nezzer and hatched 6/24/06.
My last several attempts at incubating green tree pythons have
been very poor so I decided to transport the eggs to VPI
for better luck. Meadow laid 15 eggs and one slug on 5/6/06
after only one observed breeding. Three of the eggs that
were adhered on a group of eight in the vermiculite medium
were somewhat sunken-in during the incubation. Two of
those three babies in these sunken eggs had hard yolks and
died after hatching. The remaining baby may not survive. The remaining animals (6 maroons & 7
yellows) are already set up individually in shoeboxes.
UPDATE Oct. '06 - These thirteen
babies have really taken off this year in regards to
feeding. Each one of them eats every time when food is
offered on tongs (frozen-thawed pinks and fuzzies) un-scented
and warmed. All the animals have shed twice and have
eaten over 10 times. I will be letting a few select
individuals go later this year. $250 deposit holds an
animal for three months. $1500 each.
UPDATE Jan. '07 - Lost #13 before
Christmas after re-gurge. This group is doing very well and eating with no
signs of slowing down. Several have started the color
change. There is going to be some real screamers in this
group. Contact me regarding payment plans if you are
interested in one or more of this group. Thanks!
UPDATE April '07 - What a terrific
group. They are growing nicely and still showing few
signs of turning full green. I am very excited to see
how they continue to mature over the next couple of
months. They are all eating large hopper mice frozen
thawed every 10 days. Just a great group of
animals!
UPDATE July '07 - New changes for
this group... I upgraded them from shoeboxes to a larger box
with more room. I switched the group over to small
frozen-thawed mice (from fuzzys) this month, and they took to
it right away. Several of them are starting to get their green
and blue scales. A few of them are starting to look like
real knockouts. See new photos above. Now that
they are yearlings, they will really put on some size and
"take off!" It will be time to sex and send
these yearlings out soon. So far, several of them have
turned out simply amazing. I am very excited to see how
the final results will look.
A HUGE THANKS
to Dave & Tracy Barker for their help and use of their
incubator room for the successful hatching of these
snakes.
